Work Visa Australia

Work Visa Australia

What is Temporary Work Visa Australia?

A temporary skill shortage (TSS) visa allows the holder to live in Australia while working full-time for the sponsoring employer. Applicants for a temporary work visa Australia may include dependent family members in their application.

Is a work visa right for you?

This visa enables employers to address skilled labour shortages by bringing in genuinely skilled workers, where they cannot make a proper skilled Australian source. You many consider a temporary skill shortage visa if you would like to work in Australia either for a short period of time, and have the skills to fulfil an occupation on the skilled occupation list.

Types of temporary skill shortage visas:

  • Short-Term Stream

The short-term stream allows you to stay and work in Australia for up to two years, with an option to renew once for a further two years. You must work in an occupation listed on the Short-Term Skilled Occupations List (STSOL)

  • Medium-Term Stream

The medium-term stream grants visas of up to four years, with eligibility for permanent residency after three years. You must work in an occupation listed on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Regional Occupation List (ROL)

  • Labour Agreement Stream

This visa is for skilled workers nominated by employers who have a Labour Agreement. It lets you live and work in Australia for up to four years. Labour agreements are developed between the Australian Government (represented by the Department) and employers

Key Eligibility Criteria

In addition to fulfilling general requirements (e.g. be of good health and character), you must:

  • Be nominated for a skilled position by an approved sponsor
  • Work in an occupation that appears on the Combined List of Eligible Skilled Occupations
  • Have the right skills for the relevant occupation
  • Meet the relevant English language requirements

Each stream under the subclass 482 visa has their own specific requirements. Speak to one of our professional migration agents to ensure you have fulfilled the criteria for the relevant stream.
