Types of General Skilled Migration (GSM) visas:
The 189 Visa is available to applicants who are not sponsored by an Australian employer, family member or nominated by a state or territory.
The Skilled Nominated Visa is available to applicants who are nominated by an Australian State or Territory government.
The Skilled Regional Visa is available to applicants who can live and work in specified regional parts of Australia for up to four years. They can have either a state or family nomination.

- Skilled work experience
- Education qualifications
- English language ability
Other points may be added to your score if:
- You have close relatives living in Australia
- You have studied or worked in Australia previously
- You are sponsored by a state that has a shortage in your skilled area
